How To Test Golf Cart Solenoid. Place the 2 test leads of an ohmmeter one on each conection where the 2 large wires were. If the gold cart shows certain bad solenoid symptoms like not starting no clicking sound or starter disengaging it is better to test the solenoid.
If nothing is appearing then press on the accelerator. If it jumps and displays full voltage then the solenoid. Disconnect the wire connected to the solenoid valve terminal from the starter or controller.
How to Test A Golf Cart Solenoid Diode.
The ohmmeter should indicate no continuity if there are only two large terminal stubs due to the fact that no power is running through it. Some of the late model golf cart solenoids have a diode attached across the terminals. A diode allows current to run in one direction but not in the other. If the needle doesnt move then the problem is not with the solenoid.
